So yesterday I got up at 8 to go see Kat at her first horse jumping show of the year. Was hot as a bastard in Fonthill. Kat’s horse “Milton” was less than cooperative and after making a few jumps, he zigged, Kat zagged and she bit the dust.
She’s such a little trooper and was back up again and had a far better trip. I gotta think if that was me I would’ve broken both ankles and with eyes full of tears I’d have curled into a ball until someone with a wheelbarrow or dump truck came to wisk me away. Get on a horse again? Not without pissing myself.
Headed home and stopped at Burger King for a whopper and poutine combo. For $8.99, you can’t infuse a meal with less goodness.
Took the boulevard home, then we headed off to my brother-in-law’s for my niece’s birthday. I ate hamburgers, salad, cake and bubble gum ice cream and took joy in bouncing items off my nephew’s head.
Got home and called Kyle as we’d intended to crash Cliffy’s wedding reception. Little too late for Kyle “The Wizard” Mester, so we called it a night.
Slept in a bit today, then headed over to the Garrison mansion to cut my Mum’s grass. I’ve officially been cutting that grass for 20 years now. Aside from being fat, it’s the longest I’ve done anything.
Damn, do I like cutting grass. When I was younger, I’d listen to a wide variety of music as I drove the sweet JD. The “go to” was always Pearl Jam or Nirvana, though there were some embarrassing death metal and Christian rock phases mixed in. What can I say? I’m a little messed in the head.
Think this picture is from around ‘88. As you can see, I was doing the “roll one pant leg up” thing long before it ever occurred to Tupac or Biggy. I’m a bit of a trend setter. Like this “having 5 chins” thing I’m trying now… It’ll catch on.
Quiet afternoon of doing very little. Maybe BBQ some grub tonight, watch a little TV, then off to bed. Wrapping up some big projects at work and hope for a little time off later this month. To do what? Maybe some roadtripping. To where? Your place. Have a bed and bag of bagels waiting, sucka.
